Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has enumerated eighty - five (85) remarkable achievements of His Excellency President Akufo Addo in his first four years from 2017 to 2020.
Enlisting the achievements on his Facebook wall, the Vice President says much more was achieved even though the Akufo Addo-led NPP government inherited an ailing economy from the erstwhile John Mahama's NDC government. He added as they set forth to implement the 2021 budget, it is essential to take note of the past.
"As we look forward to implementing the 2021 budget in our second term, it is important that we take note of the accomplishments of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo government in our first term after inheriting an economy in crisis".
The 85 cardinal point achievement spans from January 2017 to December 2020.
The successes ranged from; reduced inflation, the financial sector clean-up, reduced lending rate through to abolition and reduced taxes, improved growth rate to planting for food and jobs, the agric sector growth, education, installation of teachers and nursing trainee allowances, roads, health, security, trades and industry, digitization, through to the Free Senior High School and free TVET.
However, the Vice President acknowledged that the Ghanaian people still face challenges, most Covid-19 inflicted.
But His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the second term of President Akufo Addo will focus on addressing those challenges while counting on the citizenry for support.
"Notwithstanding these solid achievements, there are still challenges facing the Ghanaian economy and Ghanaians following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and I look forward to working with President Akufo Addo to address these challenges and deliver on his vision to transform and modernize the economy for the benefit of all Ghanaians in our second term", he concluded.
