Leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has expressed that he is hopeful and ready to fight against anyone seeking to challenge his ambition of being the flagbearer of the NPP with money.
As part of his campaign, the current Board Chair of Ghana Gas addressed party members in the Awutu Senya East Constituency. He said he would not be scared by any candidate seeking to use money.
"Whoever thinks he is a man and wants to scare me with money when the time comes, I will show him that I am richer. I will put on a show here in Awutu Senya East and display cash," he stated to chants from elated NPP members.
In the video shared by Oman Channel, the flagbearer confidently said that he is focused on a peaceful inward political decision in the NPP, adding that he will overcome any attempt to startle him or his representatives into supporting another competitor.
"So let everyone have patience. We want peace in NPP so we can win the elections, but the fact that we want peace does not mean anyone should try and scare us. Nobody can scare you. Regarding the election, vote for whomever you wish to vote for. You have your mind," he added.
The date for the NPP's presidential primaries to pick a flagbearer has been set for November 4, 2023.
The challenge victor will lead the party as its flagbearer in the 2024 official decisions.
Kennedy Agyapong, a well-known NPP financier, has been pleading with party delegates ahead of the elections to give him their mandate as a reward for his dedication to the party and the welfare of its members.
