Afro Dancehall artist Stonebwoy has questioned the publishers behind the Grammys website, which listed ten paramount artists in the growth of Ghanaian Hiplife but omitted his name.
According to the Overload hitmaker, excluding him from such a list is an error, given his contributions to the genre. Stonebwoy emphasized other vital figures in Hiplife, such as Prince Bright, BukBak, Okyeame Kwame, Praye, etc., asserting their absence from the list disfavor Ghanaian music.
Responding to Pop Culture Journalist Olele Salvador, StoneBwoy highlighted that excluding these significant artists is a severe delinquency and does a disadvantage to Ghanaian music.
The Grammys article examines Ghana's influential contribution to the global music landscape, mainly through the Hip-Hop genre, which fuses hip-hop with traditional Ghanaian sounds.
It highlights the role of pioneering artists and producers in shaping hip-hop and its development into subgenres like Azonto and Osaka.
While some netizens have taken it upon themselves to bash Stonebwoy's unwarranted actions, his fans are seriously defending them.
@OleleSalvador You should have just mentioned me in that your submission so that we will have a discerning conversation.Cz the article is factually half dozed and it’s not an opinion because Honorable mentions without @PrinceBright_NY (bukbak) @VVipGhana @iamobrafour @kwawkese…— 1GAD (@stonebwoy) August 23, 2024
