Ghanaian rapper Pope Skinny has revealed that he relocated to the US to seek greener pastures and secure his future.
In an interview with Accra FM, the rapper disclosed that he drives a truck in the US for a living, something he could not do in Ghana.
“I drive a big truck in America. Ghanaians will laugh at me if I work as a truck driver there,” he said.
When asked why many Ghanaians are relocating to Europe, the United States of America, and other parts of the world, he mentioned that nothing in this country can secure the future of musicians.
“This is why you’ll see needy creatives asking for funds, especially in their old age. It’s not that they are irresponsible,” he said.
I don’t think anyone laughs at anyone driving these big trucks in Ghana. Maybe it’s because he’s a celebrity and has created a particular impression, and so he would be shy about doing that here.
And obviously, driving a truck in the US is more financially rewarding than driving one in Ghana.
For instance, in the US, you can earn as high as $90,000 a year driving these big trucks.
